Estate Planning
Estate Planning – the term – can be intimidating. Yet, if we are seriously concerned about doing the best we can for ourselves and our loved ones today and in the future, we must engage in the process. Simply put, death is irrevocable, but our wills, living trusts, health and attorney powers, to name a few, are revocable and may be changed at any time and as often as you would like. Some estate planning techniques such as Charitable Remainder Trusts and Gift Annuities, for example, are irrevocable but decisions to use these instruments are reached after careful consideration in an overall estate plan. Topics presented in this section are designed to provide a general overview of estate planning issues and techniques. While the Alta Bates Summit Foundation cannot provide legal or tax advice, skilled staff can provide valuable assistance in helping you develop estate plans for review by your advisors.
