Cal Pink Zone for Breast Cancer
Basketball and breast cancer were the themes for the 2nd annual fundraising event at UC Berkeley on Thursday, February 19. More than 2,500 attended the Cal Women’s Basketball game against the Oregon Ducks and all received Pink Zone tee-shirts. The event chose to help raise money and awareness for the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center
, which will celebrate its first anniversary in April.
The Medical Center and the Foundation collaborated with Cal Women’s Basketball, and Bank of the West to help raise awareness and dollars for breast cancer. Bank of the West made a generous contribution to the success of the evening, and fans chipped in with $20 bills and checks all night.

Criselle Cahayag, from the Alta Bates Summit Foundation, had her talented younger sister, April Labson, sing the National Anthem.
At halftime, a giant check was presented to representatives of the medical center, amidst cameras flashing.
The night was a winner all around for the medical center and for Cal, because the red-hot Bears trampled the Ducks 84-42.
