Boost Your Spirits
at Leap of Faith

Good times, great cause: Join an inspired crowd and enjoy the upbeat entertainment at this year’s Leap of Faith benefit, scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 6 p.m., at Scott’s Seafood Restaurant in Oakland’s Jack London Square. The third annual event advances the cause and celebrates the memory of its beloved namesake, Faith Fancher.

Fancher, a former KTVU-TV news reporter and empassioned crusader, documented her 6-1/2 year battle with breast cancer in her television broadcasts and tirelessly campaigned for early detection and improved access to screening and cancer treatment and services. She drew strength in her last years from the compassionate care she received at the Medical Center.

Comedian Bob Sarlatte headlines this year’s lineup, which also features Professional Courtesy, a trio made up of Alta Bates Summit physicians, plus broadcast celebs/emcees Carolyn Tyler and Renel Brooks-Moon. In addition, there’ll be an array of exciting items offered in the silent auction, plus a special raffle for a 14-carat white gold pearl and diamond bracelet and matching earrings.

Proceeds benefit the Carol Ann Read Breast Health Center and enhance Alta Bates Summit’s services for breast cancer patients and their families. “Leap of Faith reflects Fancher’s great spirit and style, as well as her deeply held commitment,” says Darlene Ayers-Johnson, Chair. “We’re all touched by her life and cause, and are motivated to continue her important work.”
