Imagine indulging in cuisine that draws on the East Bay’s wealth of cultures while enjoying lively entertainment, great company, and the good feelings that derive from doing a good turn. That’s what’s in store at A Taste of the East Bay, Thunder Road’s irresistible new event on March 20, 2009, 6–9 p.m., at the historic Berkeley City Club.
“This is the foundation’s 17th annual fundraiser to support Thunder Road and the programs it provides to youth in recovery,” says Bob Merritt, event committee chair and Foundation board member. “Over the years, the event evolved from a musical venue to our venerable Crab Feed on the San Leandro Marina. To expand our outreach to the community, as well as provide a fun, new outing for regular donors and attendees, we’re bringing the event back home to Berkeley, and spicing up the agenda.”
Highlights of the evening include food and wine sampling, a silent auction, and live entertainment. “Taste of the East Bay is a celebration of this region’s cultural and culinary diversity, a casual evening of food and fun,” says Merritt. “Last year’s Crab Feed raised $50,000 for Thunder Road, and we hope to smash that record in 2009, and make even more money to help more kids.”
